Another new addition to my family has arrived…Mitsy! She is a 7-week old part Siamese kitten. She looks like a sealpoint Siamese except for her paws which are white. I named her Mitsy because of her white mitten-like paws…and I ran out of names associated with the movie Nate and Hayes! The name suggested by Kevin was Rona (the name of their ship) but that just didn’t work for me. So the Nate and Hayes name era is over.

I wasn’t planning on getting another kitten and told my friend, Jenny, (who works at my vet’s office) that Sophie was it–unless she came across a Siamese kitten. I didn’t think that would happen anytime soon. I was wrong. She called me on Wednesday, 6/8, and sent an email with pictures later that night. The woman who had the cats (there were 2) had rescued them just before they were scheduled to be put to sleep at an LA animal shelter. I called her on Thursday and she agreed to bring them to my office on Friday where I would have to choose which one I wanted.

Based on the pictures, I had pretty much decided which one it would be. As it turned out, she only brought one (the one I wanted) because the other one had an eye infection and needed to go to the vet for treatment. I decided to take Mitsy to the vet asap since she was sniffling and was able to stop on my way home from work. Mitsy is in good health other than an upper respiratory tract infection. She’s on antibiotics but seems in good shape other than that. Even though the vet recommended I isolate her from my other cats, I decided to take my chances since I knew isolation would be hell! So I just have to hope for the best.

Mitsy weighs just under 2 lbs and is absolutely adorable! She loves to cuddle with me and is getting acclimated to my house and the other cats. Nate is very loving toward her, Hayes is very hissy, and Sophie has finally figured out what a great playmate Mitsy is!

While I didn’t think I wanted any more cats, I’m very happy with Mitsy. It’s going to be tough having four cats once again. I just have to hope they all stay healthy for a long time to come. Meanwhile, there certainly is no lack for cuddling cats in my home!
