I just checked my blog only to realize it’s been weeks since I posted anything! I have to admit I’ve been busy, but mostly I’ve just forgotten to post. And so I’ll try to catch up a bit tonight.

Thanksgiving was great. We had the traditional dinner here with me, Patrick and Veronica. Everything turned out great and there were plenty of leftovers–enough so that I was able to eat for almost a week and still have frozen turkey and stuffing for later.

I started cleaning and washing all my carnival glass the weekend after Thanksgiving. Got most of the glassware and other knick-knacks packed up to get ready for the Christmas decorating. Had hoped to get all the inside decorating done that weekend, but wound up getting none of it done. But I am glad that I was able to wash the carnival glass. It will be much easier when Christmas is over and I am able to put everything out knowing that it is sparkling clean.

This past weekend was a long one as I was able to take Friday as a vacation day. I finished most all the inside decorating that day and Patrick came over on Saturday to help me put up all the outside lights. I had hoped to get the front porch decorated on Sunday, but spent most of the day cleaning the porch and all the furniture out there. I just couldn’t decorate around all the spiderwebs and dust that had accumulated over the past year. Normally I clean the porch sometime during the summer, but just didn’t get to it this year due to my surgery. The porch and all the furniture is now very clean, but I didn’t get any of the wreaths or garland hung. Oh well, I still have time to finish up this weekend.

Also thought I had all the lights hooked up to timers–until we had a big rain storm Sunday night. One of the timers quit working so I assume it just got too wet. It’s an outdoor timer so I expected there wouldn’t be a problem with the rain. Guess I’ll have to visit OSH this weekend to pick up another one. The weather is supposed to be dry at least for the next 10 days, so I’m hopeful there are no further timer problems.

Took Sophie to the vet on Saturday for her second vaccination and a checkup. She is now 3 months old and weighs all of 3 lbs! I have another vet appointment this Thursday for Nate and Hayes for their annual checkup and booster shots. This will be the first time their foster mother (the technician at my vet’s office) has seen them since they were 4 months old so I’m excited for her to see how they’ve changed!

Work is crazy end of the year stuff. Every time I think I’m getting caught up something new comes along. Plus there are all kinds of events that I have to attend, resulting in less time available to get things done. While I enjoy the events–tomorrow is the Volunteer Appreciation Party with lots of snacks and about 5 lbs of shrimp!–the result is far less time to complete all my regular tasks. I’m hopeful to get things caught up by the end of next week so that I’m not behind the 8-ball going into Christmas week.

And so the Lakers game is over for tonight so it’s time for me to stop writing and get things ready for tomorrow. Will try to blog a bit more often so that I’m not writing a month’s worth of updates the next time!
