And so it’s finally here. The start of a new year and the start of a new presidency. Only 18 more days until the latter. Still not sure how I’m going to be able to watch all the festivities. I don’t remember watching Dubya’s inauguration speeches, but I do recall seeing quite a few others. Were all of those when January 20th fell on the weekend?

2009 started with a bang after a fabulous party at my house hosted by Patrick and Veronica. Everyone had a great time with lots of food, drink and partying…and, of course, champagne at midnight! We all got dressed to the max (tuxes, suits, long dresses and cocktail wear) and it was great fun to have a dressy party. And thanks to P & V for coming over the next day to clean up everything. Much appreciated.

For the first time ever I didn’t get up early to watch the Rose Parade. Just too tired. Saw bits and pieces of the parade throughout the day, but never did see the entire thing. That evening I cooked the traditional pork, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Vanessa and Rick stopped by for dinner and it was a pleasant end to a beautiful New Year’s Day.

Woke up this morning to heavy, heavy fog and cool temps. Decided to just sit around playing Animal Crossing on the Wii and messing around on the computer. I know I should have started taking down Christmas, but just couldn’t deal with it yet.

So, Happy New Year to everyone. Hope 2009 turns out really well.
