Alas, the day is almost over, but it was a good one.  Alternated between cleaning the house and watching the NCAA basketball tournament on tv.  Got most of the ‘viewable’ house cleaned.  In other words, my bedroom and bathroom are still in need.  Didn’t have time to do a heavy duty cleaning, but things look absolutely fabulous compared to what the house looked like when I got up this morning.  Am getting the house in good enough shape that I might finally start in again on a few remodel projects–as soon as all the tax returns are finished up.

Patrick and Veronica came over tonight for corned beef and cabbage.  Not the best corned beef I’ve ever made, but still tasted pretty good.  Veronica brought a beautiful basket of fresh flowers, including roses, daisies and Bells of Ireland.  I can always count on Veronica to provide a lovely centerpiece!  Spent most of the evening sitting around talking and looking at a few old pictures in some albums I had forgotten about.  The best were the old pictures of Puto, Bill and Darwin.  Puto was such a cute little kitten!  Unbelievable that he is now almost 17 years old.  Also saw lots of pictures of other critters Patrick brought home over the years including Dan the Quail.

Heading over to Vanessa’s tomorrow to help her figure out how to get rid of some critters (probably rats!) that have decided to take up residence in her attic.  Not sure exactly what the solution is, but am hopeful we can at least find out where they are getting into the house and block off the entries.  Then I guess we’ll have to set traps and hope for the best.

The weather is cooling off a bit, but still lots warmer than most parts of the country.  We were inundated with fog this morning and I think it will be that way again tomorrow.  Not bad as long as you don’t have to drive in it.  Patrick had to go to work early this morning and said it was almost impossible to see where he was going while up here in the foothills.  Hope to have a bit of time tomorrow night to do a bit more work in the yard before it gets dark.  It is sooo nice having that extra hour in the evening.

Figured out my tentative vacation schedule for the rest of the year.  It’s tentative because I’m not sure whether I’ll have visitors from Ohio this year–set aside one week that I’ll take in August if they aren’t able to come.  Also have planned for a week and a half in September to go to Seattle and visit with my new grandchild!  Even with all that, I still have enough time to take off the first week in July and another week at Christmas.  How nice it is to get 4 weeks of vacation each year!

Time for bed.  Got a new book that I want to read a bit before dozing off.
