I’m happy to report that the city councilman I was supporting won the election on Tuesday.  It was a very close election, but I’m pleased the other guy and his supporters have seen that they couldn’t buy the office.  Unfortunately, two of the school board seats will require a runoff election in mid-May, meaning more political ads in the mail.  Elections these days certainly aren’t “green” in that numerous trees have been destroyed to produce all these ads.  I read a few of them to see who is supporting which candidate, but it seems there ought to be a better way than filling mailboxes daily with junk that just gets pitched.  What a waste.

So it seems that summer has arrived.  The weather has been unbelievably warm.  So much so that we had to run the A/C at work today.  I’m happy about the warmth and am ready for the start of daylight savings time this weekend.  Patrick is planning to go snowboarding up at Big Bear this weekend and is hoping there will still be enough snow!  If this weather continues, this may be the last weekend for winter sports.  And we’ve still only gotten about 2″ of rain since last July.  While I can water the yard, the hillsides are going to be extremely dry–meaning a really bad fire season ahead.

Off to bed.  I went to dinner with friends tonight and eating all that yummy food has made me very tired.  And dessert was the best–fresh strawberry pie with whipped cream!
