I slept better last night (and this morning) than I can remember ever sleeping…or at least since I was many, many years younger. I went to bed late (+/- 1 am) and slept until 11:30 am this morning! Anyone who knows me will tell you that is highly unusual. I just don’t ever sleep beyond 9 am…and most of the time am up betwen 7 and 8 even on weekends. Don’t know what caused this, but it felt fabulous! Perhaps it had something to do with the long holiday weekend and knowing that I still had two days remaining before having to go back to work.

Got up in time to watch the final 1/3 of the Indianapolis 500. What an exciting race it was this year! Still won’t ever forget the year that Mike and I went to the race. Once you’ve been there and have seen it in person, it’s far more exciting as you watch it on tv. Everyone should go at least once.

Went to Home Depot and OSH this afternoon and picked up some more plants, three hanging pots and some mulch. Got the three pots filled and hung on the back fence and put in all the other plants in various spots around the backyard. The backyard looks great…better than it’s ever looked in all the years I’ve lived here. I can only imagine how much better it’s going to look as all the plants get larger and begin filling in.

Need to do some trimming along the side of the house and fertilizing of the new stuff, but mostly have all the outside work close to being finished! How nice it’s going to be sitting out back with all the lush foliage blooming all summer. I’ll have to continue putting in some annuals each year but I put in lots of perrenials, roses and bushes, so won’t have nearly as much yard work in the future.

Unfortunately, didn’t get lots done inside or in the garage. Oh well. Since the yard is finished I’ll have plenty of time in the weeks ahead!

Patrick and Veronica will be coming over tomorrow to hang out at the pool. Then we’ll be cooking steaks on the grill for dinner. A relaxing Memorial Day. May go to OSH before they get here to look for a patio umbrella since I no longer have any kind of patio cover. The old one blew over into the pool last fall during a windstorm and I’ve decided not to put it back up. It’s just too large and difficult to deal with during windstorms.

The night-blooming jasmine has started blooming. The scent is still not real strong since it’s not yet in full bloom. Possibly tomorrow night…
