That’s right, you did read it correctly! Patrick and some of his friends are snowed in up in the mountains at Big Bear! They went up on Friday to a cabin owned by the parents of one of the girls for a fun weekend, planning to return home Sunday afternoon. What they didn’t count on–and what wasn’t predicted–was a huge storm that hit Saturday night. It dropped lots of rain in our area and lots of snow (a couple of feet!) in the mountains. All the roads are closed and they are requiring chains on all cars when they do open things up tomorrow. They hiked into town this afternoon and bought chains and hope the snow lets up so they can get home tomorrow. However, the 6:00 news showed snow still coming down up there…

I didn’t get nearly as much accomplished around the house this weekend as I had planned. Went shopping both yesterday and today and spent LOTS of $$$. Bought curtains for all the new family room windows and then got a new futon mattress and cover that will be delivered tomorrow night. Today went to Home Depot and got curtain rods and paint for the family room. Then stopped at Trader Joe’s and Albertsons for all the last minute Turkey Day stuff. Think I have everything I need–as well as lots of Christmas supplies that were on sale. With only Patrick and me being here for Thanksgiving, I think we’ll be eating turkey and fixings for at least a week after the big day. Okay by me as it means little or no cooking for quite a while!

Need to do laundry tonight, but it’s really cold outside (no wonder it’s snowing in the mountains!) and just going outside from the kitchen to the garage is not something I’m excited to do…

It looks very much like fall outside right now as the storm last night dumped about half the leaves from the tree next door all over my driveway, front porch and flowerbeds! My neighbor promised he would get the tree trimmed back in mid-October, but I guess he changed his mind. I hate that crummy tree! Problem is that we get most of leaves since we are downhill from him and the winds blow them off the tree and right into my yard! And, of course, it always happens right after my gardener has just been here…
