Had a good birthday yesterday. Vanessa took me to dinner at Houston’s, a really, really good steakhouse here in Pasadena. We had a wonderful evening together and I am happy I have such a great friend. Thanks again, Vanessa!

Received some funny cards from Sally (Thanks!) and got home last night to find a message on my voicemail from an old friend from Akron. I’ll give her a call this weekend when I have some time to chat.

Today my supervisor, Christina, took me to lunch at The Athaneum at Cal Tech. The Athaneum is a private, members only restaurant that serves absolutely fabulous food. I had a wonderful crab cake salad and a very pleasant time talking with Christina away from work. It was nice being able to spend some time with her not focusing on work.

All in all it was a really nice birthday this year. Thanks to all who sent good wishes and gave of themselves to make it so pleasant.

PS – Thanks also to Kelly for the DVD (can’t wait to kick back and watch it) and to Tom for the phone call. A weird thing that Tom mentioned is that I turned 61 on the 29th and his daughter, Betsy, turned 16 on the same day. So how often does that happen?
