So I am taking tomorrow off work as one of my final days of vacation. The purpose was to get a one day start on getting my outdoor lights and street decoration up in time for the Light Up deadline of Saturday night. As the saying goes, “the best laid plans…” The rain has started. It’s going to be huge rainstorm that is predicted to last through Sunday and they are predicting 3-4 inches tomorrow alone. There is no doubt I will get the street decoration up, but am not sure about all the lights. They may have to wait until Sunday afternoon. Oh well. At least Murphy will be happy he doesn’t have to spent all day tomorrow in his doghouse.

I have plenty to do inside so my day off won’t go to waste. There’s lots of cleaning and I still have to assemble my village of 75 miniature houses. I didn’t put them up last year since I spent Christmas in Seattle, so I’m excited to have them out once again. Based on past experience (plus the writer’s strike), I’m sure there will be absolutely nothing worth watching on tv, so I should have plenty of time to get the cleaning and last bits of decorating completed inside. I’ll probably play lots of Christmas cd’s…and a couple of new ones that I ordered from Amazon should be here tomorrow.

I have to start baking magic cookie bars this weekend. I’ll be taking them to the office staff party on Monday, but I have to make a batch for home so that Patrick can have the first taste of the year. I also would like to finish my online shopping this weekend as well. It will be so nice to get most all my shopping completed before the last minute. Still am not absolutely certain about what I’m getting everyone, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually.
