This week it’s dental problems. Now this is kinda gross, so don’t read further if you don’t want to hear about something yukky. I won’t go into all the gory details as it’s more than I really want to describe!

I’ve had most of my teeth replaced over the years and only have two ‘real’ ones left. I went to the dentist last Friday to have my six month checkup/cleaning. After talking with Dr. Tse, we decided that I should get those teeth pulled this year since they were very loose. The plan is to replace the bottom teeth with a full denture and then do post implants as soon as the bone regenerates enough to be able to support the implants. So Dr. Tse decided to do an impression of the lower teeth. Unfortunately the two remaining teeth were looser than he expected and they both came out when he removed the impression material! It didn’t hurt and was the easiest tooth extraction I’ve ever experienced.

So, I’ve been to his office twice so far this week having lots of impressions made and will go in again tomorrow for a fitting of the new denture. If all goes well I’ll get the new denture on Friday. Meanwhile I’m taking antibiotics to ward off any infection as well as ibuprofin for pain. There’s not a lot of pain other than right after all the impressions.

I will be extremely happy to have this finished up. While I knew this was going to happen, I just didn’t expect it just now. I guess this is easier (and far less stressful) than planning it all out…and then waiting for the dreaded day to come.
