Hope you had a wonderful day! Patrick and Veronica came over and we had a great cookout–steak, barbecued chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and macaroni salad. Way too much food, but it was all great. And I just now remembered the peach pie that I forgot to serve! Oh well, they’ll be over again this weekend at some point, so we’ll have it then.

Patrick has to be at work tonight at midnight so they left around four so that he could get a bit of sleep. And I sat and watched “The Music Man” and relaxed for a few hours. Now I’m watching “A Capitol Fourth” on PBS and will probably stay up to watch “Yankee Doodle Dandy” later tonight. I have lots I could be doing but, after all, it *is* a holiday!

The weather here is extremely hot (high 90’s) and the house just won’t cool down. I had planned to do some more cleanout work tonight, but it’s just too hot. The fireworks at the Rosebowl will be starting around 9 pm, so I have to make sure all the animals are in the house so they don’t get spooked by all the noise. Doubt that I’ll be able to see much from here, but that’s OK. It’s hard to deal with fireworks when you have pets. I don’t really mind staying home in that I don’t have to fight the traffic later, and I can be comfortable listening to lots of patriotic music on TV.

Can’t believe it’s already July, but I’m real glad to have a long holiday weekend. And I’m taking Monday off to make it a *really* long weekend. So have a good long weekend and let’s see if we can slow down summer a bit so that it doesn’t pass by too quickly.
