At this time next week I’ll be packing my bags for my trip to Seattle.  Will probably start some of the packing this weekend since I’ll be taking a bunch of hand-me-down baby clothes with me and can get those packed ahead of time.  I’m sooo ready for this trip.  All the news I hear from Kevin and Soula makes me that much more anxious to get there and hold that little guy.

I’m also waiting for the wonderful scent of the night-blooming jasmine.  I’m worried that an influx of grasshoppers in my yard may have done in the jasmine this year.  I keep looking for blooms, but don’t see any.  And the heat may also have contributed to the lack of blooms.  This is the time when the yard should be flooded with that wonderful scent, but thus far nothing.

Was so busy last week, that I forgot to post about the debacle at Burning Man.  Some asshole decided to torch The Man early on Tuesday!  The fire crews were able to put out the fire, but about 85% of The Man was burned and had to be rebuilt in time for the actual burn on Saturday.  Don’t know if I posted about this earlier, but the webcast of the burn was spectacular!  Lots of fireworks and a huge mushroom cloud of flames that ignited The Man.  It was the best I’ve ever seen.

The trailer is back in the driveway and numerous burners have been by to retrieve their possessions from the bowels of The Brave III.  There is still lots of stuff inside and I assume a lot of it belongs to Patrick and will be emptied out this weekend.  He needs to get inside and do a thorough cleaning, trying to get rid of as much playa dust as possible.  He and Veronica are planning to take it camping at the end of the month and I’m sure they don’t want to sleep in all the nastiness that’s coating the inside (and outside) right now.  Fortunately the temps will be cooler this weekend and he should be able to work on it without melting.

Work is going well this week.  I’ve got almost everything caught up for the end of the month financials as well as having the payroll work done so that I can send it off next week before I leave and not worry about any problems with it.  I’ll be spending the next two days working on audit stuff–yuk!  At least I have things in order so that I can devote full days to the audit.  Had hoped to have everything completed by the end of September, but I’ll be happy if I can make it happen by the end of October at this point.

Soula took Robin out for his first trip into the world today.  Of course everyone thought he was adorable and I think she came home feeling great about the trip.  She’s on her own this week since Kevin had to attend a gaming conference in Austin, TX and won’t be home until Friday.  I’m sorry the timing didn’t work out so that I could be there with her while Kevin is away.  I’m glad she was able to get out of the house with Robin, though.  This will make it that much easier the next time she decides to venture out.

Well, I think I’m caught up, so time for a soak in the tub.
