And I actually missed it.  So much was going on that I completely forgot about one of my favorite days of the year.  So I’m enjoying the second day of summer tonight.

Patrick and a friend bought a travel trailer yesterday to take to Burning Man.  It’s 21′ long and has a kitchen with a stove, fridge and sink.  It sleeps 3-4 in beds that fold up during the day and turn into seating.  It used to have a bathroom, but the former owner ripped that out for some reason.  We spent hours last night trying to manuever it into a parking space at the back of Patrick’s apartment.  We wound up calling a friend of mine whose husband used to be a semi-truck driver.  He was able to back it down the long narrow driveway and then helped using a hand truck to steer it into the parking spot.  Thank you, Scott.

Talked to Kevin and Soula last night after I got home from Patrick’s.  Soula had to deal with the nurse from hell (NFH) that she met with yesterday to go over her diet plan as the result of the gestational diabetes diagnosis.  Soula still isn’t sure the diagnosis is accurate in that her blood sugar level has been right around 120 for every test since last week when it was elevated.  The NFH gave her a diet that consisted of a one page photocopy of a sample plan for one day.  She indicated they needed to buy special foods (like thin-sliced whole wheat bread that contains no sugar) but never gave them any info on such things as how many carbs per day.  No recipes, no other foods other than than one day, no suggestions for alternatives if Soula doesn’t like what’s listed there.  I recommended they refuse to deal with her any further.  Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens when they go in again next week.

I gave in to temptation tonight and placed an order with the Fenton Glass Co.  They have a semi-annual online ‘Tent Sale’ that is the online version of their summer Tent Sale at their factory in West Virginia.  I’ve been to that one a couple of times, and it is great.  Unfortunately, I can’t get back there this summer, so I decided to buy something I’ve been wanting for some time.  I got a red glass Gone with the Wind lamp!  I got a great deal and can’t wait for it to arrive!  It will be going in my bedroom where I think it will look great with the dark red velvet draperies in there.

I’ve had 2 days off from the auditors at work and it’s been great!  They’ll be back next week for the entire week (God help me!) but I certainly enjoyed the lack of stress at work the past few days.  Thought about bringing some work home, but didn’t think about it for too long.
