Two days and Murphy still hasn’t jumped into the flowerbed!  Am not sure if it was the pepper or the fencing, but something is working.  Kevin tells me that ground anise also works as a pet deterrent, so will make sure I have some on hand if things change.

Tomorrow I will be spending the evening training the new bookkeeper who has taken over the job I used to do in the evenings and on weekends from home.  Hopefully this will be it and I won’t have to spend any more time with these folks.  No matter what, I’ve given them a deadline of 6/15 to ask questions/get assistance.  On 6/18 “The Audit” begins at work and I just can’t handle doing anything other than my regular job plus all the extra audit stuff.  I’m almost certain I’ll be working late and/or on weekends.  What little free time I’ll have needs to be spent vegging.

I’m totally dreading this audit.  And the worst part is that I may not get to take off the first week in July as planned for vacation.  I hadn’t planned to go anywhere, but did plan to do lots around the house…especially lots of painting.  Depending on how the audit stuff goes, I might have to postpone until the week of 7/16.  I could probably handle that.  Will just have to wait and see….

Went to Michael’s yesterday and bought bunches of red, white and blue silk flowers.  I’ll be redoing the wreath on my front door and will make a couple of arrangements–one for the front porch and one for the dining room table.  I’ll work on them this weekend and hope to have it all completed by Flag Day (6/14) and will keep everything up through the 4th of July.  Then I’ll redo the wreath and arrangements with summery stuff that I’ll leave up until I do my fall decorations in late September.  I do enjoy decorating the front porch for all the different seasons…and it really looks nice right now with the new wicker furniture.

Went to OSH to buy some pest control products called Safer Soap.  Some kind of bugs are devouring my night blooming jasmine and that can’t happen!  They had a sale (10% off) on all their steel trellises and I found one that I really liked for this viney plant I have just outside the family room door.  Had originally planned to use a wood trellis that I got from Vanessa that I had planned to paint dark green.  However, decided the steel one would really look nice so I hauled it up to the register.  The clerk rang it up and it didn’t show the 10% off.  When I asked him about the discount, he said this didn’t ring up so I wouldn’t get the 10% off.  I asked if he could check on that since the sign said the discount was on ALL the trellises, but he said the store was too crowded and their were too many people in line to do that.  Can you believe this!  I said I didn’t want it and said (at the top of my lungs!) that I guessed I would just have to go to Home Depot to get it!  He didn’t even flinch.  I then went to the service desk and told the manager exactly what happened.  No doubt he’ll flinch a bit when his manager gives him hell.
