Once again Loki decided to do battle with another feline resident of the neighborhood last night. This time I don’t think he won. He came in bloody at about 10 pm last night and in obvious pain. After cleaning him up as best I could, I realized he needed to see the vet the next day…before the dreaded abscesses set in. So, I took him in today. He has 5-6 puncture wounds that became very visible after he was shaved and cleaned up. And they’re all over his body. I can’t believe I didn’t hear the fight as it must have been quite ferocious.

So now Loki gets to spend far more time indoors and I get to spend the weekend trying to expel any bacteria from the wounds as well as trying to convince him that his medicine really is a good thing to swallow.

I really thought this would let up as Loki got older, but at age 9 he still seems to think he can do anything he wants. The rest of the cats go out back and lay around next to the pool. Not Loki. I don’t think he goes very far from the house, but he makes certain no other cat crosses the line into his territory.

I just hope I can keep his wounds clean so that they don’t abscess. There are only a few places left on his body where he hasn’t already been sliced open. You’d think he’d get tired of feeling so bad so often.
