…or at least it hasn’t rained on the Rose Parade for over 50 years. Until this year. And it didn’t just rain, it poured! And what a mess it was. Flowers, seeds, powder, etc washed off the floats leaving wires, frames and foam with nothing coating them. It was really a shame. While some of the bands weren’t protected from the rain, most wore clear plastic ponchos that just didn’t look very good. There were some beautiful floats, but they just didn’t look as nice with torrential rains beating them to death. And I feel really bad for those people who spent lots of money coming to Pasadena…

And now we’re getting high winds along with the rain. We get a few breaks in the rain, and then it starts pouring again. Based on the level of water in my pool, I’m guessing we’ve had at least 3-4 inches of rain so far as the water is almost to the top edge of the pool.

Every year they have a float viewing area just down the street from our house. Doubt they will even have the area open this afternoon, and expect the floats will be so dilapidated tomorrow that lots of people won’t want to see them. Plus, most folks have to head back to work tomorrow.

It just didn’t seem right this year having the parade on the 2nd. I know there’s a good reason for doing it that way when the 1st is on Sunday, but it didn’t start raining yesterday until early afternoon. I sure hope it’s another 50 years before the parade gets rained on again.
