Aaarrrggghhh!!! We got hit with a massive hailstorm today. It hit at about 1:30 this afternoon, and it’s now almost 6:30 pm and there’s still hail piled up in parts of the yard! Patrick took lots of pix and posted them on his website (www.theplayland.com) where you can take a look at the craziness. It was so bad that lots of my plants were shredded and the leaves were stripped from most of the trees and bushes. Not as bad as some of the windstorms we’ve had in previous years, but still looks a mess. The pool is filled with leaves and trash–thank God I have a pool guy who will clean it up on Wednesday.

Am sooo glad I didn’t put plants in my new flowerbed in the backyard yet. Just as I expected, the dirt settled when the rain hit and there are a few holes that need to be filled in. Think I’ll take my time and let everything settle well. Additionally, fragile new plants would probably have been shredded if they didn’t sink into the ground.

I’ll no doubt have lots of cleanup to do this weekend. The gardeners will do a lot on Friday, but I can see lots of hanging branches that will need to be trimmed. The yard waste can will probably be overflowing.

Ah well, as Patrick mentioned earlier, thank goodness we got a new roof a few years ago and don’t have to worry about leaks along with all the yard mess.
