How many times does it take telling a neighbor to scoop his dogs’ poop?! Unless I say something, he just lets it build up. Today I was out cleaning up the backyard and watering when I once again noticed that he hasn’t scooped the poop on the side of his house for months! I’m thinking of putting up some sort of barrier mounted on the fence to keep the smell from coming in my windows as well as keeping it from washing into my yard once the winter rains begin.

And there are other problems with this guy. He refuses to pull the weeds (mostly grass) along my side of his yard. It is now close to 18″ high and is going to seed, dumping all that seed into my flowerbeds. He doesn’t understand about pruning roses, so his roses bloom once a year and then get leggy and nasty looking amidst the weeds–again on my side of his yard. He’s finally begun watering his yard–after it turned almost completely brown–but has his automatic sprinklers set so that they spray whatever car is parked next to his side of our property.

I’ve asked him to tone down the spray, but he still hasn’t done it even though he has said he will. I’ve showed him how to prune his roses, but I guess it just doesn’t sink in. He acts more like a renter than an owner.

I think I’m going to rig something out front–a piece of plastic on stakes–to keep the water from hitting our cars. Maybe he’ll get the hint. Wish he would decide to cash in on the high home sales market and sell his house. Still don’t understand why he stays. It’s just him and his two dogs. No one ever comes to see him and his commute to work is over an hour. He has hardly any furniture, has no idea how to maintain his house and seems to have no money to pay to get things done.

I hate to be a bitch…well, sometimes…but there’s only so much I can tolerate. Pasadena has a law that requires you scoop poop once a week minimum. I don’t want to totally alienate the guy, but I don’t think I should have to live next door to a yard full of dog shit! I think I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and have a long talk with this guy. I rarely talk with him as it is, so what does it matter if he gets pissed?
