It started off with the first day back at work after being off for a week’s vacation, which is always rough. Finally got most everything caught up by week’s end, but didn’t get everything done that I had hoped to do. But isn’t that always the way it is.

Sunday and Monday (8/21 & 8/22) saw my living room turned into a staging area for all the folks going to Burning Man. I’m still trying to get things back in order. Hopefully it will all be cleaned by the time Patrick gets back on Labor Day. And, no, he will NOT be bringing all that shit back into the house!

The weather here is hotter than hell (up to 100 degrees yesterday!), so I’m not getting lots done at home. The house is like an oven and I have to leave the a/c in my bedroom running all day while at work to keep the house cool enough for the cats. Started cleaning up the backyard Wednesday night and had hoped to work in the backyard this weekend, but it’s just too hot to be outside.

Am getting a few things done inside, but there’s just too much to do and too little time. I have a ‘floating holiday’ remaining at work, so am going to take this coming Friday off, resulting in a 4-day weekend. Hopefully the temps will be a bit lower and I’ll get stuff caught up at home.

Jean’s kidney surgery is Tuesday. I’m praying that all goes well and that her recovery is quick. Sally and Kelly will be visiting her later in the week, provided the weather cooperates and they don’t get heavy storms from Hurricane Katrina.

I guess I shouldn’t complain too much about our weather. It could be worse…I could be living in the path of Katrina. Don’t know what’s worse, having earthquakes with no warning or having hurricanes with days of warnings.
