Thanksgiving was hardly over when Loki pulled his usual pre-Christmas holiday surprise…we discovered a large abscess under his right leg on Friday. Of course the vet was closed for the long holiday weekend so I had to wait ’til Monday to take him in. He had surgery that same day and came home that night. He’ll be a “conehead” for another week and a half, but will have his drain tube removed on Saturday. I’ve had to cover most all the furniture in the house with old sheets and towels since Loki is dripping goo everywhere he decides to curl up. Yuk!

The worst part is the drain on my holiday budget–over $400! Next year I’m going to try to set aside $$$ for Loki’s abscess surgery since I’m sure this won’t be the last one. At least this year he did it early enough so that he should be healed by Christmas, although I don’t expect his fur will be completely grown back until next summer.

He hasn’t been going outside all that much, plus the nasty orange cat from down the street moved away. However, since Puto seems to have a few scabs on his skin, we think Loki and Puto were fighting and Puto must have let Loki have it. I’m sure Loki instigated the fight as he delights in tormenting all the other cats. Hard to feel sorry for him as he brought it on himself.
