Am not getting much done around here during my last few days of vacation. I made the mistake of turning on the tv…

The Olympics have drawn me in–I’ve become addicted. And they are on almost 24/7 on various cable channels. Have seen lots of swimming, gymnastics and basketball, and am now watching the shotput from the original Olympics venue at Olympia. How cool is that!

When I’m not watching the Olympics, I’m finding lots of design/home repair shows to keep me occupied for a good portion of the day. And browsing the internet along with emailing family and friends keeps me in front of the computer even while watching all this stuff on tv.

And so I am distracted from all the *projects* I had hoped to complete this week. Since only a few days remain, I will force myself to get going tomorrow. I love doing it once I get started…it’s just the getting started that’s difficult.

Patrick got himself motivated and is cleaning and rearranging his bedroom. So far it looks great, with all his clothes washed, sorted and put away. Still lots to do, but he’s making great progress. Burning Man is fast approaching, so he needs to get as organized as possible now so that he’s not going nuts the few days before he leaves…

Don’t think I’ve posted about the nasty worms/caterpillars that are invading my petunias as well as a couple of other plants in the backyard. They are stripping the leaves and flowers and I’m at a loss as to how to cope with them. I’ve tried a bug spray called Sevin that’s recommended in my Sunset Gardening book, but it just doesn’t seem to last. I’m looking for something PERMANENT–I’m sick of these damn bugs! Will do a little websurfing tonight to see if some gardening site can offer some suggestions. Another distraction…
